Introductory sensory evaluation courses provide an ideal way to learn about the basic principles of sensory evaluation.
You do not need a current sensory program in place to benefit from the basic courses as these courses provide you with information on how to establish a program within your company that suits your needs.
These basic courses are also a good environment for your new hire to learn about the sensory methodology and protocols necessary for a sound program.
2 1/2 day workshop on sensory evaluation methods and analysis. The techniques to be presented apply to many aspects in the manufacture of consumer products: new product development, product improvement, product reformulation, quality assurance, evaluation of competitive products and readiness for market testing. These techniques apply to both food and non-food product lines. The workshop will emphasize practical approaches to sensory evaluation for individuals who are relatively new to the area as well as individuals in product development, QA/QC and marketing/marketing research who would benefit from a better understanding of the proper application of sensory techniques and how sensory evaluation fits into the product cycle.
2 1/2 day workshop on descriptive analysis techniques. The course expands upon the descriptive techniques presented in the above introductory course. The workshop presents a practical, step-by-step approach to setting up a descriptive panel in R&D and plant situations. Participants should have a basic understanding of sensory techniques (or attend the above workshop) but need not have any experience with descriptive testing. Participants are encouraged to bring company products for demonstrations.
Advanced courses provide the sensory analyst with the opportunity to join colleagues in interactive courses to discuss topics in more depth.
2 1/2 day workshop on descriptive analysis intended for those individuals who have experience in descriptive analysis techniques or have attended an Introduction to Descriptive Analysis course. As with the basic course in descriptive analysis, participants may bring company products for demonstrations. The course covers:
Getting the Most from Your Panelists
Training Techniques
Application of Descriptive Analysis
Data Analysis
Demonstrations
Sensory short courses are held at various locations throughout the United States. Basic sensory and descriptive courses and advanced descriptive analysis courses are offered. All courses emphasize practical approaches to sensory evaluation that can be used in small or large organizations.
The atmosphere is relaxed and class sizes are limited to increase your learning potential. You have ample time to discuss specific product situations and projects. For the descriptive analysis courses, you may bring products for class evaluation. Request that your name by placed on a mailing list for upcoming short courses.
Courses may also be brought in-house.
